Travel

Boone is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. It is less than a two-hour drive northeast from Asheville, west from Greensboro, or north from Charlotte. The Blue Ridge Parkway offers a scenic drive which crosses highway 421 east of Boone and highway 321 south of Boone.

Airports in Asheville (AVL), Greensboro (GSO), Charlotte (CLT), or Raleigh (RDU) offer service from many southeast airports. Coach America offers motorcoach service to Boone from Greensboro on the Mountaineer East/West and from Charlotte on the Mountaineer North/South.

The Appalachian State University Hayes School of Music is located at 813 Rivers Street, Boone, NC, 28608. On the campus map, we are building #8, the Broyhill Music Center.

Parking

All parking areas marked in yellow are free after 5 p.m. on Friday through Sunday. Parking on Friday will be available in the two small music school lots (very limited) and in the green Stadium lot until 5 pm. After 5 pm on Friday, the yellow lots are available for free parking for the rest of the weekend. The lot north of building 6 and east of building 5 is available after 4 p.m. on Friday. Additional parking is available further south on Rivers Street at the University Parking Deck (building 31 on the larger campus map).

For exhibitor unloading and loading, plan to use the loading dock. This will accommodate 4–5 vehicles at a time, depending on the size of the vehicles. ASU music students will be available to help with unloading and loading on Thursday evening, Friday morning/afternoon, and Sunday afternoon.
