Master Class Information

Students interested in performing in the Bain or Hoops master classes should ask their teacher to send an email of recommendation to Leslie Norton on their behalf.

The Southeast Horn Workshop welcomes horn students from all levels (high school through graduate school, and adult amateurs) to play in multiple master classes at the 2016 Southeast Horn Workshop.

Master classes and clinics will feature:

  • Our featured artists Andrew Bain and Haley Hoops
  • A natural Horn clinic with Angela DeBoer, Assistant Professor of Horn, Middle Tennessee State University
  • An embouchure clinic with Andrew McAfee, Horn Lecturer at University of North Carolina
  • A video presentation of Philip Farkas with John Ericson, Associate Professor, Arizona State University
  • A clinic: “Singing and the Horn Player,” with Katie Johnson, Assistant Professor, University of Tennessee Knoxville
  • “Low Horn Techniques,” presented by members of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra horn section.

The Southeast Horn Workshop is also looking for excellent collegiate players for the Honors Horn Choir.

Interested persons in either master classes or the Honors Horn Choir should ask their teachers to email a letter of recommendation to Leslie Norton.

Complete applications must be received by February 15, 2016. Applicants selected to play will be notified shortly thereafter. For consideration, all master class applicants must be registered to attend the workshop.
