2004 Southeast Horn Workshop

5–7 March 2004 – Florida State University

Travel and Lodging Information

Events at the 2004 Southeast Horn Workshop will take place primarily at the School of Music on the campus of Florida State University. The School of Music is located at the corner of Copeland Street and Call Street in downtown Tallahassee. In addition to travel by car, Tallahassee is easily accessible by airplane, train, and bus. Participants arriving by car on Friday are encouraged to carpool since parking on campus will be limited because classes will be in session; parking on the weekend will be less problematic.

Of the many hotels and motels in Tallahassee, we have reserved several rooms at selected hotels with special group rates. Rooms are limited; make reservations early!

Travel by Plane, Train, or Bus

The Tallahassee Regional Airport (TLH) is located about 6 miles from the Florida State University campus and offers flights on AirTran, ASA, ComAir, Delta, Northwest, Skywest, and US Airways Express. Many hotels provide shuttle service to and from the airport. There are many other choices for ground transportation from the airport.

There is an Amtrak station in Tallahassee about a mile from the school of music. The station is serviced by the east–west running Sunset Limited train. The station is unstaffed; taxis and bus service are available.

Tallahassee’s Greyhound bus station within walking distance of the FSU School of Music.

We can provide limited shuttles from the airport, train station, and bus station upon request. Please notify us by 15 February 2004 if you require such accomodations.

Once you arrive in town, TalTran city buses may be a convenient and inexpensive way to travel, although service is limited on Sunday.

During the day on Friday, parking is available at meters along Call Street, Ivy Way, and Park Avenue. The meters charge $0.25 or $0.50 per hour depending on location. After 4:30 pm Friday and all weekend, all University parking lots are open to anyone. Parking is available for persons with disabilities in the lots closest to each building. Do not park in any privately owned lots or in the lots for area businesses.

Be aware that Call Street east of Copeland Street and Ivy Way south of the Westcott Building are one-way streets.
